Privacy Policy

Recall ("the app") is designed to keep your data private and on your device. This policy explains what data we handle and how.

1. Data stored on your device

All of your data stays on your device only. We do not upload your saves, PIN, preferences, or exports to our servers.

• Your saves — Item names, details (e.g. passwords, notes, URLs), categories, usernames, and photos. Stored in encrypted storage on device.
• App preferences — Sort order (recent / alphabetical), theme (light / dark / system), language, and the first-launch "never show again" choice.
• App lock — If you enable app lock, a secure hash of your PIN is stored on device. Biometrics (Face ID / fingerprint) are handled entirely by your device's operating system; we do not receive or store biometric data.

2. Encryption

Your saves are encrypted at rest on your device:

• On-device storage — Item data is stored in encrypted form. The encryption key is kept in the device's secure storage (e.g. Keychain / Keystore) and never leaves your device.
• Export files — When you export a backup (Settings → Data → Export), you choose a password. The file is encrypted with AES-256-CBC. The key is derived from your password using PBKDF2. The password and encryption keys never leave your device; only you can decrypt the file.
• PIN for app lock — A hash of your PIN is stored, not the PIN itself. We cannot recover your PIN from the stored hash.

3. No ads, no tracking, no account

Recall has no ads and no tracking. We do not collect analytics, usage data, or any information about how you use the app. Recall works fully offline; no internet connection is needed for normal use. You can use the app without creating an account. We do not collect your name, email, or any sign-in information.

4. First-launch screen

When you first open the app, a welcome screen describes features (encryption, offline use, privacy, app lock, backup). You can choose "Never show again." That choice is stored only on your device. We do not track whether you saw or dismissed this screen.

5. Settings and preferences

In Settings you can:

• App lock — Enable PIN and optionally biometrics. PIN and lock state are stored locally only.
• Language — Select your preferred language. Stored locally.
• Theme — Choose light, dark, or system. Stored locally.
• Data (Export / Import) — Export your saves as a password-protected file, or import from a previous export. See section 6.

6. Export and import

Export creates a file containing your items (names, details, categories, photos) and sort order. You set a password; the file is encrypted before it leaves the app. You choose where to save or share it (e.g. Files app, cloud storage). We do not receive or store exports.

Import lets you restore from a previously exported file. If the file is encrypted, you enter the password you used when exporting. Decryption happens on your device. Import can merge with existing data or replace it; that choice is stored locally.

7. In-app purchases

Pro upgrades are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not receive or store your payment details; only the store's standard purchase state (e.g. that you own Pro) is used by the app.

8. Photos

Photos you add to items are stored on your device as part of the app's local data. They are included in encrypted exports if you back up your data. We do not upload or analyze the content of your photos.

9. Feedback

If you contact us via the in-app feedback option (Settings → Feedback), your message is sent by email from your device. We may use it to improve the app or respond to you. We do not share feedback with third parties for marketing.

10. Children

Recall is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will be revised when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
